Discover the mining history of Thetford Mines with Lights Below Ground, an immersive experience at the museum’s King Mine Historical Center | KB3.

Throughout the experience, you’ll have the chance to see projections and exhibits, and explore interactive discovery stations to learn more about the miners’ day-to-day life and the history that shaped the region.

Admire the region from a unique vantage point

For a beautiful end to your visit, make your way to the Thetford City Observatory, located at the top of the headframe at the King Mine Historical Center | KB3.

Take the elevator or the stairs, and once you've reached the top –42m above– admire the panoramic view of Thetford Mines and its mining landscape. And if you’ve got the courage, venture out onto the screened balcony suspended in the void. Dare to try it?
