325th anniversary of the Great Peace of Montreal

To mark the 325th anniversary of the Great Peace of Montreal of 1701, Pointe-à-Callière is unveiling a new interpretative tour exploring this major diplomatic gathering. Through a series of installations, contemporary accounts, and stops throughout the Museum’s iconic halls, you’ll retrace the events that led to the signing of this historic agreement between the French and 38 Indigenous nations. On display in Montreal for the first time in 25 years, the only known original copy of the treaty can be seen at Fort Ville-Marie, the very site where this important chapter in the city’s history was written.
