On two wheels on one of the bike paths, on board a boat on the Route bleue, or even at the wheel exploring agritourism producers, you’ll love your getaway in the Nicolet-Yamaska region. Halfway between Québec City and Montréal, the region sits at the heart of the St. Lawrence Lowland on rich and fertile soil, guaranteeing breathtaking landscapes and land that grows rich and flavourful products. As a family, as a couple or solo, this is the perfect destination for a summer getaway!

New certified Route bleue trails

Summer was made for playing in the water, anyone can tell you that! All those in Nicolet-Yamaska who love to get out on the water would say the same, as the area is among those boasting the largest number of canoe-kayak routes certified “Route bleue”, including six new routes inaugurated this year. Divided between the Nicolet and Saint-François rivers, the routes offer different levels of difficulty to the delight of all, from novices to skilled paddling experts!

The local land at its best

Back on dry land, strike out to see the local markets, farms, vineyards and orchards – the best way to get reenergized! The region has a rich agritourism offer: set out to meet artisans of the land and you’ll discover exceptional products grown or transformed by passionate people with unique know-how. For a gentle end to the day, visit one of the region’s alpaca farms and be charmed by these gregarious and curious animals with their moving facial expressions and incredibly silky fur.

Discover the region by bike

Nicolet-Yamaska is also an excellent place for bike trips and bicycle tourism. You’ll find 400 km of cyclable trails and paths, 70 km of which make up a chunk of Route verte no 4. The bike paths, the vast majority being on flat ground, are accessible to all and criss-cross the area’s most beautiful landscapes. To choose your route, download the map, or explore them on Google Maps or the app “Ride with GPS.” If you’re looking for a starting point, the Hugo-Houle rest area in Sainte-Perpétue is the way to go. The area offers a bicycle repair station, access to drinking water and picnic tables, as well a large parking lot. Grab your bike!
