Everyone has leafed through the pages of a comic book. But getting the chance to watch an author sketch a panel right before our eyes, or chat with the artist who brought our heroes to life — that’s a whole other experience. At the Festival de la BD Prévost on August 15 and 16, 2026, the ninth art leaves the bookstore shelves to step into real life — a weekend where creativity is experienced in person rather than in silence.

More than 40 Quebec comic book artists to meet

The heart of the festival is the artists themselves. More than 40 Quebec comic book artists will be present in Prévost to sign autographs, discuss their craft, and open the door wide to their creative worlds. You’ll get to meet both established artists and up-and-coming talents, in a rare moment of closeness between creators and readers. Watch a line take shape, understand how a story is built, and ask that question that’s been on your mind for a long time.

And if you’re looking to stock up on comic books, the Renaud-Bray and Imagine Comics bookstores will have booths on site. It’s the perfect opportunity to complete your collection or treat yourself to a new, freshly signed discovery.

An event that keeps you moving

There’s no way you’ll be bored with such a packed schedule of things to see and do! The program features exhibitions, youth workshops, lectures and meet-and-greets with authors, not to mention a panel discussion on artificial intelligence in creative work and character combats. Younger visitors can enjoy face painting, mascots, the reading zone and a fun obstacle course designed to keep them active.

As for new features, there’s the launch of the book “Un dîner avec les Pierrafeu: La petite histoire d'une adaptation québécoise" (Lunch with the Flintstones: The Story Behind a Quebec Adaptation) and the live recording of a podcast. Between one activity and the next, time just flies by and comics come alive as a vibrant art form, accessible to all ages.

A site where you can spend the whole day

Beyond the program, the festival is best enjoyed at your own pace. The site is full of welcoming spaces where you can catch your breath. There’s a food kiosk, a Shawbridge tent for a beer or a non-alcoholic drink, as well as cotton candy and popcorn for those little cravings. The Desjardins tent offers free frozen treats — always appreciated on hot days—and a relaxation area welcomes families between activities.
