Wachiya! Awarded the United Nations “We the Peoples” Award, the community of Oujé- Bougoumou is host to the Aanischaaukamikw Cree Cultural Institute. This unique center is more than a museum, it is a center where Cree culture is experienced and taught. Visitors can admire 5,000-year-old artifacts that illustrate the Cree peoples’ rich history and their connection to the land. The institute is also home to a library and archives dedicated to the preservation of our history. Guided visits and cultural experiences are available Monday to Friday all year round, as well as Saturdays in July and August.
