A ski hill, snowshoeing trails in the forest, snow tubing slides and more. La Tuque boasts many great spots for a day out or a short getaway this winter.

Ville de La Tuque
The city of La Tuque is located about two hours north of the more well-known city of Trois-Rivières and is a nice, quiet destination for outdoor family fun. Between a ski hill, snowshoeing trails in the forest, a skating rink, snow tubing slides and cultural activities, La Tuque boasts many great spots for a day out or a short getaway this winter. Here are three ideas to get you started!
Ski La Tuque: the municipal ski hill
The quaint city of La Tuque is home to a downhill ski resort just a stone's throw from the downtown area. This municipal resort offers a vertical drop of over 150 m, as well as 18 snow-covered trails, half of which are lit at night. Other activities, such as snow tubing and snowshoeing, allow families or non-skiers to fill their day with a variety of activities. On several Saturdays during the season, live singers will be performing at the chalet bar (Bar l'Avalanche) for après-ski.
If you'd like to extend your stay, here are three ideas of nearby accommodation: rustic domes in the forest at Méandre, hotel rooms at Hôtel Marineau or more luxurious rooms at the Auberge de la Petite Chapelle, with breakfast included!
La Tuque boasts lovely snowshoeing trails!
Parc des Chutes-de-la-Petite-Rivière-Bostonnais
This park is a large natural area in the heart of the city, and the ideal place to escape to for a moment of relaxation in nature. Plus access to the park is free! You’re sure to be charmed by the snowshoeing trails that wind through enchanting landscapes covered in white, or the ice rink where you can twirl to your heart’s content. When the chill starts to set in, warm up inside the park's nature interpretation centre. There you'll discover a wealth of information about Quebec's wildlife. Before you leave, don't forget to visit the souvenir and craft shop to pick up some unique creations to remember your visit by!
The La Tuque airport
To round off your visit to La Tuque on an original note, head to the local airport to discover an exhibit that presents the fascinating history of aviation in the Mauricie region. This entirely free exhibition skillfully combines technology and history to give visitors an immersive experience. Thanks to virtual reality headsets, you can fly over the majestic boreal forest in a seaplane and admire the striking perspective of the backcountry from up above. Fun and educational, the exhibit is a must-see, especially if you love history and aviation.
