Portneuf: the ideal winter destination!
A wintry take on fishing
Ever tried ice fishing? Whether you’re a novice or an experienced angler, the Portneuf region is the perfect place for this back-to-basics family activity! Various bodies of water in the region are transformed into ice fishing grounds in the winter, including the Réserve faunique de Portneuf and the ZEC Batiscan-Neilson. Purchase your access rights, and the fun can begin! A heated hut near the fishing spots lets you warm up as needed, and all the necessary equipment is included or can be rented on site, depending on the format you choose. If you’d like to take ice fishing to the next level with a multiple-day trip, consider Au Chalet en Bois Rond, a resort in the region that offers cabins close to the water.
You’ll feel like you’re floating on snow!
Fatbikes, which are bikes with oversized tires fit for winter cycling, increase in popularity year after year, especially with families. These bikes, with their huge tires that seem to float on the snow, are perfect for exploring forest trails in harmony with nature. The Centre nature Saint-Basile, the village of Au Chalet en Bois Rond and the Vallée Bras-du-Nord offer several kilometres of snow-covered trails and paths accessible to the whole family. Bring your own bikes, or check the sites for rental locations!
Where to go for the full experience…
Enjoy the Portneuf region to the fullest by extending your stay and booking one or two nights at the Au Chalet en Bois Rond village or Hotel Roquemont. Or, look into accommodations at the Parc naturel régional de Portneuf or Vallée Bras-du-Nord. These are places where you’ll find plenty to do to fill your days! In addition to skiing at Ski Saint-Raymond, you’ll be spoiled for choice by the many winter activities you can do in the region, including snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, tubing and hiking, notably at the Centre nature Saint-Basile, the Parc naturel régional de Portneuf and the Centre vacances Lac-Simon. Browse the attractions’ websites to learn more and plan your winter getaway, or visit Tourisme Portneuf to complete your stay!
