A Musical Experience with feu doux
In the halls of the Michal and Renata Hornstein Pavilion for Peace, A Musical Experience: feu doux at the MMFA joins you on your journey through the museum. Called Paix la la, this fluid work is made up of an array of asymmetrical sound loops that are gently activated in the spaces. Its first part follows you to the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors, throughout your visit, whereas the second invites you to pause in the adjacent Atrium. Take the time to slow your gaze, lend your ear and let listening transform the way you move among the works.
From the Functional to the Fabulous
The permanent exhibit From the Functional to the Fabulous – 600 Years of Decorative Arts and Design showcases all the riches of one of the largest collections of its kind in North America. Completely redesigned, the installation brings together more than 800 objects created by more than 400 designers and artisans from all over the globe. Silverware, ceramics, furniture, jewelry, textiles and glass works share the space with artisanal and industrial design creations. Iconic works are joined by recent acquisitions and several pieces exhibited for the first time. To enrich your visit, use your headphones and smartphone: you’ll hear the stories behind ten objects told by the artists who created them.
