KWE! Meet with Indigenous Peoples
The KWE! Festival
The KWE! Festival invites you to immerse yourself in cultural performances, demonstrations of traditional skills, culinary discoveries, sports activities, lectures and workshops. The program is organized around three main themes (Youth and Leadership, Transmission and Creation and Territory and Identity). Several spaces allow you to delve into a variety of topics.
Among others, you’ll find:
The Hydro-Québec Cultural Performances Space, showcasing various artists (Inuit games, throat singing, dance, drums and song).
The Let’s Talk About It Space and Lands and Knowledge Space, which will host several conferences and panels.
The Desjardins Family and Youth Space, with plenty of activities for kids: sports, makeup, movies and crafts.
The Creation and Crafts Space, with workshops to make decorative moccasins and corn husk dolls.
There are also lots of activities taking place at all times, including:
The 11 Nations Knowledge Trail, where the 11 Indigenous Nations in Quebec will present demonstrations of know-how that reflect cultural identity, connections with nature and ingenuity.
The interactive installation Weci | Koninut, currently on a world tour, will make a stop at the festival. This sensory experience will immerse visitors in a forest setting that reflects the six Atikamekw seasons.
The Forest of the 11 Languages, where the 11 languages of the 11 Nations in Quebec pay tribute to the rich languages and cultures of the First Nations.
The Artisans Boutique, featuring authentic, modern creations by First Nations and Inuit artisans.
And to discover authentic local flavours, Comptoir Resto-KWE! will offer a new menu created by Wendat executive chef Anora Collier of La Traite restaurant.
